Howling At The MoonMoon

For a while now I've had the idea of a planet instance for some projects I'm working on. Drupal can do this, but not elegantly. PlanetPlanet is a Python application designed to do just this, it's a tad clunky to set up and maintain. MoonMoon is as close to perfect as I can imagine this type of software could be.

Speaking For Whom

The more I listen to the Ubuntu UK podcast, the more this idea grew on me, although it's not specific to them. Since the beginning the Ubuntu UK podcast presenters has decided to tailor their show towards getting the official nod from Mark Shuttleworth. This means keeping it clean, Ubuntu specific and generally positive about Ubuntu. It hasn't stopped them from explaining their bad experiences with Ubuntu so it's reasonably balanced right? Maybe not so much.

Properly Setting A Default Web Browser

I'm growing increasingly impressed with Xubuntu but setting the default web browser is a nightmare. In theory, you simply choose your preferred web browser in the settings and it should be enough. Some applications just ignore this and open in whatever was set before them by the distro makers. There is a reason, and a solution.

Killing The Gwibber Monkey

I've used Gwibber on and off with mixed feelings. Now I use more than just Identica, it's a useful single client. I did notice an odd thing however, and I don't know what triggered it, nor how to remove it; a monkey icon. After some exploring I did find out how, although there must be a more user freindly method than this.

Unseen Studio Has Launched

A while back on Identi.ca a throwaway comment between myself and Kevie led to a project called Unseen Studio. To save explaining twice, I'll simply point to the site. Unseen Studio is also the temporary home to a separate started by myself and Cobra2, a Free Culture Torrent Tracker project, the HPR episode explaining that concept is here. Feel free to join us.
