An Identi.ca Group For The Screencast

It's been a few days now and the Digital Prism Screencast now has two episodes online, well, an introduction and the first official episode so I thought I'd do a follow up post about the last few days. On the screencast page you can click on either the title or the thumbnail to get to the post and watch the embedded version.

I had issues having the video converted and embedded properly, but I managed to get around it by using Vimeo.com as well as Blip.tv, I host on both. Vimeo.com allows me to embed the video into my own site, while either allow the downloading of the MP4 version, and only Blip.tv have the OGV and M4V versions.

Blip.tv allows cross posting to other services like Vimeo.com although I've chosen not to do that. Vimeo.com has a delay on the converting from the free account, so last nights post was ready to go live a couple of hours before it did. I've since decided to upload to Vimeo.com first so that clock starts ticking while Blip.tv is getting it's files.

Last night I decided to create an Identi.ca group for the screencast to announce new episodes, feel free to join if you like, it'll give me an idea of how many people are interested. I'll be using the #Drupal or #LinuxMint tags when announcing episodes or ideas in the !dps group. If you have ideas for the screencast, feel free to post them to that group, or add them to the wiki.

I have a couple of episodes planned which will be recorded on Windows about switching away from Windows. I'm not quite sure how I'll be doing them yet, or where put them on the site but I'll figure that out.

If you liked this post, buy me a coffee
