The Matrix Has You

Hows this for geek chic? A Matrix-like cascade of characters in your terminal called CMatrix written by Chris Allegretta. Yes it's old but I just discovered it. It looks a lot funkier in action than in a still image. It's also tiny and easy to install. From the Ubuntu repos it's:

sudo apt-get install cmatrix

CMatrix on a semi transparent XFCE4 TerminalAt first I thought this was kinda funky, kinda cool but totally pointless. Until I thought of having it run as soon as the terminal opens, meaning you have to press q to get the normal bash prompt. It has a few options like -l for the Matrix fonts, and -a for asynchronous scrolling. The project's home page has more commands to try. When we're spoiled on Linux for how much we can personalize every little thing on our PCs, it's just another little show off thing to add to the pile.
