Fun Android Predictions

Android is a smartphone OS developed by Google. It's Linux based with all of the flexibility and security that entails. Some manufacturers have already jumped on the Android game, one of which is the Motorola Droid. As the year unfolds, many more will follow.

This means that just like other parts of the Linux / FOSS ideology, people will begin to start sharing sites with screenshots of their Android desktops. Linux has a few of those sites such as UnixPorn. It does bring to mind Bender from Futurama looking at his Playbot magazines with Android images in suggestive poses.

Along with jokes like Droid owners using Jedi Mind Tricks at Customs by waving their hands and saying in a mysterious voice "this is not the Droid you are looking for", the name seems open to some fun.

In all seriousness, Android does seem to be heading for a bright future as the smartphone that can actually be tweaked. I've heard a few people mention the term Android Nation; which sounds as good as any to me.
