How Did Asajj Ventress Die?

A large part of what I enjoy in the Star Wars Expanded Universe is that it spans multiple generations and many different story threads. The timeline stretches from Darth Bane's days to 1,000yrs later as Darth Sidious starts to make his influence felt with the Trade Federation blockade of Naboo and beyond. Major characters arrive, play their part and have an ending, except one; or I can't find her ending at any rate. How does Asajj Ventress meet her end?

Most of the novels, graphic novels, movies and TV episodes fill in little gaps in the timeline from Sidious's era through the rise and fall of Darth Caedus (Jacen Solo) to where Luke Skywalker is an exiled Grandmaster of the Jedi Order. This involves many plots, subplots and angles to various events, bringing in new characters; some burning brighter than others. All of the major characters get an ending.

In Revenge Of The Sith we see Dooku killed by Skywalker, Grevious killed by Kenobi and Windu killed by Sidious. Even the Separatist leadership met their end at Vaders hand on Mustafar. Sidious masterminded the Clone Wars with his apprentice Tyrannus (Dooku) playing the Confederacy side. Dooku has his war general Grevious and his assassin / apprentice Commander Asajj Ventress.

Asajj VentressShe was the one woman hit squad sent on black ops missions to rescue captured Conferedacy leaders, or intimidate planetary leaders into joining the Confederacy. She is Force sensitive with a serious grudge against the Jedi Order. She has had run ins with several Jedi during the Clone Wars, from Skywalker, Tano, Kenobi, Unduli and if memory serves right, Shaak Ti. She proved the equal of all of those.

There is a difference between the movies which were written by George Lucas, and the novels and graphic novels who are written by others. The movies also have to stand alone and make sense to those who only watch them. It's understandable therefore not to bring in extra characters for the audience to wonder "who is that?". This is not about why Asajj Ventress wasn't in Revenge Of The Sith, but what happened to her.

What story did she die in? It would be an Expanded Universe story. Or are the fate of Asajj Ventress and Ahsoka Tano being kept back as show finale's for the Clone Wars CGI series? Ahsoka Tano was created for that series, Asajj Ventress existed well before it, but was brought in as a recurring character and a major thorn in the side for the Jedi.

Since each book fills in a different gap in the timeline you can track and follow the fates of all the major characters as some are killed before the Clone Wars breaks out, while others are killed during them, or others survive the purge and are tracked down later on. Aura Sing even pops up many years later when Luke Skywalker is well into his 50's.

*Update*

It appears she's going to play a part in the 3rd season of the Clone Wars CGI cartoon as Dooku is ordered by Sidious to kill her. This would make sense with Sidious tying up loose ends that could become a problem for him after Order 66.
