Reorganising The Screencast

The other day when I was recording the latest screencast episode, it started to hit me that my initial separation of Drupal and Linux Mint wasn't the best. It was too restrictive and would grow to be a bit misleading, so I started trying to figure a new structure for it. I now have done, and modified the site accordingly.

As much as I record every episode on Linux Mint, most of the episodes will be on general linux applications, Gnome, XFCE tools etc, So I've decided to switch from Linux Mint to Linux as one of the main series. It wasn't just the separation I had to try and rethink, but the tags, views and filters in Drupal to pull it together into a logical site to navigate and use.

In the Drupal episodes I want to cover little known modules as well as Drupal Basics. The plan there is to explain basic concepts of Drupal such as blocks, regions, where to install modules to etc. In other words, the types of things that can help people get over the initial learning hump with Drupal with some basics of what not to do.

Since my recording and release schedule is gonna be very much random, I merged the screencasts page to be the latest episodes, and have included the RSS feed URL and the combined archives and suggestions page for Drupal and Linux on the sidebar. Now when an episode is released it will appear on the relevant suggestions page with a link to it, so that people can see if I've covered it or not.

I have no current need for a wiki page now so it's been disabled and unpublished. At some point it may come back if there's a need.

I do plan to do a handful of episodes recorded in Windows about switching to Linux, dealing with ISO's, how to burn, how to check MD5sums etc, so I needed a logical place for those; they will be in the Linux series.

I have also included the screencast episodes into the generic archived posts link too.

The RSS feeds are:

Sorry for the inconvenience but it now allows me the flexibility I should have planned for from the start. There will be an additional series added at some point down the line but that's enough for one day.

I did set up an Identi.ca group for the screencast but that may or may not be required. It's registered anyway for those who wish to join and show their support.
